A three-year, three-campus project to understand the academic work practices and needs of community college students at Montgomery College, the community college of Montgomery County, MD. Yale University / Renovation of Bass Library
A broadly inclusive project to engage students, staff, and faculty members in the identification of academic work practices and needs to be met by a renovated undergraduate library and to develop innovative methods of connecting students to physical collections.

University of Rochester / Gleason Library
Created the informational basis for renovation of 20,000 sq. ft. collaborative study space using anthropological techniques and facilitated inclusion of students in the design process. This project resulted in a widely read book, Studying Students: The Undergraduate Research Project at the University of Rochester (ed. with Susan Gibbons), and inspired similar library-led, user-centered design projects in academic libraries throughout the US and internationally. Opened Winter 2007.
